Privacy policy

Plain-language details on what information this website collects, why, and who helps us handle it.

Last updated

This policy covers coastalstone.co, the website of Coastal Stone Construction ("Coastal Stone", "we", "us"), a construction and remodeling contractor serving San Diego County. It explains what happens to information you share when you use the site or contact us.

What we collect

Information you give us

When you send the quote form, we receive what you enter:

  • your name and phone number (required)
  • your email address, ZIP code or city, project type, timeline and project description (all optional)
  • the page of the site you sent the form from

If you call, text or email us, we also receive your phone number or email address and whatever you choose to tell us, including any photos you send.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, this one uses Google Analytics and Google Ads, which collect information about your visit through cookies and similar technology: for example the pages you view, the site or ad that brought you here, your device and browser type, and your approximate location. We also record a few actions on the site, such as starting or sending the quote form and tapping a phone number or email link, so we can tell which pages are useful. We do not use this to identify you personally.

How we use it

  • to reply to your request, arrange an estimate and prepare a quote
  • to do the work you hire us for and keep in touch about it
  • to understand how people find and use the site, and to improve it
  • to measure whether our Google ads lead to quote requests
  • to keep normal business records and meet legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not add you to a mailing list. We only contact you about the project you asked about.

Who else handles it

We use a small number of service providers to run the site and handle messages:

  • Formspree processes the quote form. When you press send, your details go to Formspree, which stores the submission and forwards it to our email. See Formspree's privacy policy.
  • Google provides Google Analytics and Google Ads (see below), and our email inbox. See Google's privacy policy.
  • Cloudflare hosts and delivers this website. Like any web host, it processes technical information such as your IP address to serve pages and protect the site from abuse. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone's safety. Links to other sites, such as our Google and Yelp pages, are covered by those sites' own policies.

Cookies and analytics

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. This site does not set cookies of its own for logins or tracking; the cookies it uses come from Google:

  • Google Analytics cookies (names starting with _ga) count visits and show how people use the site, such as which pages are viewed and for how long.
  • Google Ads cookies (such as _gcl_au) and Google's advertising cookies record whether someone who clicked one of our ads went on to send a quote request. This "conversion" is how we know whether our ads are worth running. Google may also use this information to show you ads on other sites.

After you send the quote form, the site also keeps a short-lived flag in your browser's session storage so the thank-you page counts your request only once. It is cleared when that page loads or when you close the tab.

Google's own explanation is at How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Your choices

  • You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works without them.
  • You can stop Google Analytics from collecting data about you with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
  • You can turn off personalized ads from Google in My Ad Center.
  • You don't have to use the form: you can call or email us instead.

Keeping and protecting it

We keep quote requests and messages for as long as we need them to respond, to do the work, and to keep normal business records. Formspree and Google keep data according to their own policies. We use reputable providers and limit who can see your information, but no method of sending or storing data online is completely secure.

This site is meant for adults planning work on their homes and is not directed at children under 13.

Your rights

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Depending on where you live, including California, you may have additional rights under privacy law. Contact us using the details below and we will respond. We will not treat you differently for asking.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "last updated" date at the top of this page.
